Background and Career

Ronald E. Jones was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He earned his Baccalaureate Degree
from Dallas Baptist University, and a Master of Science Degree in Human Relations and
Business Management from Abilene Christian University. 

Ronald Jones was elected Mayor of Garland in 2007.  After his retirement in May 2005, he
served as Management Consultant to the City Manager and helped setup a Relief Center for
the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Jones also served as parliamentarian to the Mayor and City
Council prior to his announcement to run for the Office of Mayor.

Mayor Jones was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Garland for five and one-half years of
the 29 years that he served in city government. He had cumulative oversight of over 14 departments during his tenure with the City.  He is a graduate of the first Leadership Garland
Class. He served as an adjunct professor of business for 10 years at El Centro College in
Dallas.  

He is also a certified mediator, a certified temperament counselor, and a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.  

Mayor Jones is in high demand as a speaker and trainer, and is also a gifted artist.
